Key to My Style

Hi there :))

Feels like ages since I posted last … . So much has changed.

We’ve had our rainbow… our beautiful boy Leonardo (if you follow me on Instagram you may have noticed).

Life is even better now, night are shorter and more eventful again but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I am beyond blessed to have my boys with me every day.

Today I want to share with you few lovely pieces I got from Femme Luxe ( https://femmeluxefinery.co.uk/collections/knitwear )from their knitwear collection.

My choices were based on pieces being suitable for breastfeeding. Delivery time with Femme Luxe is within few days and the fact that I received them on my last few days of pregnancy made it pretty special.  I got to wear the red knot sweater with Leo still in the bump. I am also sharing how I wear it now that my body is going through new changes.

I love the pieces and I’ve put together few outfits to show you how I will wear them (I will also share more in upcoming weeks on my Instagram).

Next piece is actually a dress and comes with a belt but it would not work as a dress for my body at all. I ordered it with an intention of wearing it as a sweater. I love the colour and the light texture. It will compliment a lot of my outfits and add a little sparkle (awesome as I am wearing very little jewellery at the moment ;)). I am sharing with you two outfits that I put together for now.  One very casual and second a little more dressy. Depending on shoes and accessories worn we could dress it up or dress it down easily too.

The third piece is another knot sweater, basically the same as the first one I shared but in neutral ( it’s grey, although it seems more cream in real life) and without the little pearls. It is super versatile. I love adding a knot sweater over a tank top. It creates a great nursing combo.

Now, these two are the same shape too, in two different colours.  I must say I have been loving super mega oversize sweaters and jumpers lately but decided to give these two a go too. I ordered size M/L  so they are pretty small but work really well over something longer. I  will be adding them over long shirts or, like here, long tank top (boob access being a priority at the moment ;).

The second one is in a lovely  grey and it seems to work with a lot of my blouses actually. Loving this combo at the moment. What do you think? How would you wear it?

Key to me – the place of feel good

Hi beautiful.

How are you? I am so blessed to be typing this right after our sunny holiday in South Africa. Feeling topped up with vitamin D and positive energy I am more than ready to get back to work.

I have recently done a lot of thinking about ‘key to me’  and what it really represents for me.

 

It happened one morning when I was completely filled with appreciation for life and all its blessings, going though all the littlest things that I am grateful for.  I realized then that ‘key to me’ is the place of feel good.

It is all those things that can be done to be in such place, it is the daily gratitude. It is all the things to do with my style and all the pieces that make me feel me and that makes me feel great. It is being there for others and being the best version of me. But it is also the realization that it is my responsibility to do all that and to daily check in with myself that I am internally happy, based on me. It is reminding myself that Happiness is my job. Giving it away to little things or people around is simply not an option any more. In my life as well as my job I share that with others and my biggest goal and challenge is to help others recognize their uniqueness and beauty and to cherish that daily.

Key to me is also allowing myself to feel whatever I need to feel in every given moment, regardless of external factors or even people that are important to me. It is remembering that my sanity and happiness is a priority and only by checking on it daily I can be a good driver of my life. Sometimes, it is also acknowledging that I could use help from others and then asking for it without feeling bad. It is all about staying real.

WE are in control of our style, dreams, goals and so on. I am so sick and tired of complaining and excuses. I must say that my life has gone though a great cleanse lately and I surround myself with incredible and inspiring individuals now. I am a great believer in laws of the universe and in the fact that we put out, multiplies (put in the simplest way). I am not saying one must be fake in always smiling, that is not really possible but I and good, and getting really good at finding ways to make myself feel great, have fun and that, I believe, makes me a better, stylist, blogger, boss lady but most importantly better wife and mother. It is a whole new experience, realizing that I can like myself, my ideas, my words, my body, my soul, my energy and not feel embarrassed about it. Learning to love myself and learning to like myself are two different things and both are crucial in creating a life I love.

I really wanted to have little token, something to represent what this means to me and be a reminder. I have few pieces of personalized jewellery, and love them all (especially the once that were gifts) but this time I decided to ‘think of myself’ to stop making others responsible for my happiness and take all the credit.

Key to wearing leggings

Hello lovely ladies,

I feel like this may be very relevant to all us mommies out there.

I personally have loved leggings since I was little. Apparently I loved them more than anything else since I was walking. My mom wanted nothing else but to have me wear dresses, yet I had a different idea (having two older boys already, she said she made dresses for me herself,  I don’t blame her for being a bit disappointing and I am starting to feel her pain since my 3 year old has a mind on his own with the choice of clothes, sometimes beyond ridiculous). Anyway, back to leggings, why do we love them so much? COMFORT! no questions about it. I used to own all sorts of patterned leggings. I used to didn’t think in terms of an outfit though, I just liked things, and I wore them.

I still love what I wear but find it much easier to put things together since I DO think of the whole outfit. I plan before I shop and that helps hugely. I now also own only couple of pairs of leggings and don’t seem to grab them as much as I used to.

Don’t take me wrong, there is nothing wrong with leggings but there is a rule to wearing them that a lot of ladies seem to ignore, the rule is, they are a ‘substitute’ to tights not to pants. What that means is that anything that we wear with them should be covering the bum area. Unless you are working out, your leggings are not for showing your hips off. If you really need to do that, grab skinny jeans please.

There is really countless ways of wearing leggings, that is flattering, but also in line with a dress code.

Here is at least a few that I put together one afternoon to show you that you can even go day to night with leggings.

 

This is something you can wear to a lunch date with girlfriends as well as cinema date with your husband; date to night.

 

Same here, this is so easy to wear and comfortable but because you swapped your cotton leggings for sequin ones, you can wear this even to an evening out and feel fab.

 

This is one of my favourites. Add a classic white shirt to your leggings and layer it with a cosy vest, accessories will do all the talking.

 

This is very much similar, just make sure to keep the vest on. If you were to take it off, your shirt needs to be covering your hips.

 

Again, this is simply swapping your black tights this season for some sparkly leggings to dress the outfit up a little.

 

For a super simple combo, and for those of you who love a tee and leggings set, make the tee long, add metallic flats and a cute hat to make the whole look a little more interesting.

 

Let me finish with the simplest possible way to wear leggings; tee, leggings and trainers, I like to add a little colour here, since the rest was black to start with, but you can do your converse here too, as long as the tee is long enough to cover what needs to be covered again. Simply finish the look by putting the denim jacket on and voila!

It really takes 5 minutes to plan the outfit so that you can be comfy but look stylish. Have fun with it ladies.

Key To Her Busy Mother’s Style

dsc_6061dsc_6090-2This one is about many of us. We all sometimes put everything on hold to care about family and home. We put ourselves on hold that is. Why? Because we don’t feel that it matters whether we put a make up on, favorite dress, the amazing shoes we worked so hard for before the maternity started and when we still thought we can wear heels on a weekday.

Well the truth is that this is our world now and we love it but the image we seem to portray says otherwise.

Iwona has so many beautiful features but none of them seem to be visible through the uniform she puts on quickly when she runs to school in the morning or goes shopping or does million other things that need to be done every single day.

For our styling session she brought some great pieces of clothing. Most of them still with tags. Hmm…. Obviously she loves looking at them in the wardrobe, maybe it makes her feel good to know they are there but following pictures prove that no garment will ever look better than when matched with a real person. I am so pleased to say that she has a great taste, the colours of these pieces also work for her. She chooses quality over quantity and she has recently put together a capsule wardrobe for herself.

My only objection are those buggy, sad, nasty track pants that do amazing job at covering her up. She’s almost invisible in that ‘outfit’.

Saving the nice clothes for a ‘special occasion’ ends in a disaster. We end up almost never wearing them because we get so used to the safe choices we go for every day that when we need to get out there and get out of the comfort zone we choose the safe option and maybe add a heel to the jeans (if that).

I say wear your great clothes every day. You can never be overdressed. I’m sure we all can recall the time we bumped into a friend or a colleague we haven’t seen in ages when wearing something really great ( e.g. we were all dressed up for a party we were going to and just popped in to the shop for a bottle of red and a birthday card ). Oh, that felt good, right?!!! We also remember the time we barely got out of the pajamas (or didn’t), put a huge winter jacket on, added a beanie, obliviously no make up and all of the sadden everyone we know shops in the same place! Yep, not an image we want to portray is it?

That’s why every day is a good excuse to treat yourself. Your partner will much more likely take you out if he sees you happy and pretty (not that you should do it for him, always match your style with yourself first) but I hope you get my point. Once you get the hair, make up done in the morning, put that awesome necklace or pair of killer shoes on when you leave the house (or whatever it is that does it for you) and all that you have to do is enjoy whatever it is you have to do on a day.

Now, THIS is a strong and independent mama, definitely getting those heads turned at the school run ;))

First one is a perfect option for a beginning of autumn. Love getting a cool mustard wedge on and pairing it with a denim skirt and a baby blue shirt. Lift up the collar, roll up the sleeves and you ready for the madness. Oh, and don’t forget the lip ;). We went for a minimal make up (BB cream, brow pencil, blusher, mascara and lipstick. Hair hand brushed. THAT’S IT !!!

The next one is great for an evening date with a hubby as well as a lunch with girls (for a colder weather add a pair of black tights and the outfit can work from summer to winter. Timeless pieces that can be easily accessorized with a statement earring or a necklace and a great cuff. We added more drama by curling the hair and going for a little smokey eye this time and left the lip nude. I’m a great believer in a ‘one statement at a time’, so if I go for a heavy eye make up I go easy on the lip and other way around. Same in terms of accessories. When I choose a statement necklace I add studs, when statement earrings I leave it at that or add a delicate necklace/pendant (very rarely though).

The whole outfit it very stylish but also comfortable. It shows off the legs but the rest is covered in a tasteful way (one a the time yet again). You can easily eat at dinner 😉 In fact this is a dress can even be worn by pregnant ladies in an early stage of pregnancy and be kept for long time after. Love it

The last one is a jumpsuit Iwona bought a while ago. It looks great on her. I say it must be just as comfortable as the track pants but boy does it look better?! Love how cool and modern she looks in it. She was smiling so much more at this stage that it was inspiring. There are countless things you can do with it but you can choose as little as you wish too. We simply added a layering pendant in a gun metal and left the shoe option open to your imagination 😉 Amazing.
